Personal Reflection

Over the course of five years, I have gone to see AE thesis presentations every year.  I remember watching the presentations and having know idea what the students were talking about, but every year, the presentations started to make more and more sense.  This year I presented my senior thesis, and while watching my fellow classmates present theirs, I realized this was the first year that I really understood the projects that were presented.  I understand now that we ultimately needed all five years to learn the concepts needed to complete our senior thesis.  Senior thesis was the final conclusion to my Penn State career.  I feel confident moving forward that the AE department has done all they can to prepare me to begin a full time position in the construction industry.

Once again, I want to thank everyone who has gotten me to this point.  Thank you to all of my professors over the years, especially my advisor Dr. Robert Leicht.  Thank you to all of the team members on the Community Healthcare project that provided me with not just all of the documentation for this project, but also for being so responsive throughout this process.  Thank you to James G. Davis Construction for providing my first experience in the construction industry, which ultimately lead me to chose construction management as my option.  Thank you to DPR Construction for teaching me the right way to lead and manage a team, and for offering me my dream job.  Finally, my family and friends without whom I would not be here today, thank you, love you guys.

CPEP Assessment

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) site was an effective tool to display students' work and progress throughout the school year.  This site not only provided a platform to present senior thesis projects but also as sustainable effort that creates a record of projects over several years.
